Setting Our Christmas 2014 Table.

Setting the table is one of my favorite things to do, I love pretty dishes and linens. This year I pulled out my traditional red/green Christmas decor and incorporated it into our space. Our living room is golds & greens and as you move into the dining and kitchen areas the red and green decor comes in.

I'm hoping to have a Christmas house tour for you this week, but for today here's our Christmas table 2014.

I'm loving the plaid trend this year, my Grandma found this at the thrift store for me and I knew it'd be perfect for my table. I got this wooden box at Junk in the Trunk Market this past Summer and I knew exactly that I was going to fill it with ornaments this holiday season. Most everything for this table we already had from years past. The only things new were this box for $20 and the thrifted table cloth.

Another trend that's really popular this season is all things deer! I see the dear heads everywhere, do you? I wanted to incorporate it somehow in my table and remembered that I had these cute dear head dies from Lifestyle Crafts. I used my Letterpress machine and cut them out, and also used this die to make the banners. I then just wrote all my guests names on them and glued them to the antlers. You can the dear die cut here, and the banner die here. Use code: WORLEYHOUSE for 20% off at the shopwer.com site!

Simple way to add Christmas cheer is to fill vases or anything with ornaments and pinecones! I got those cinnamon pinecones and they make the house smell so great!

There's our festive and cheery traditional Christmas table! What about you, what are you decorating your table with this holiday season? Tell me in the comments below and for sources see the list below.

Taking Up a New Hobby.

When I sat down at the end of 2013 to think about goals for the new year I knew I wanted to try a new hobby. I love being creative and trying new things that develops that creativity in me. This year I decided to try painting. I wouldn't consider myself a painter but I really enjoy it.

I bought myself a water color set from the craft store and used some thick letter press paper I already had.

I sat down at my kitchen island one night with some worship music on and just started painting.

I love that they are a little imperfect. The brush strokes aren't even.

And my drawing skills aren't the best.

But this wasn't about it being perfect or even the best.

It was about trying new things. Doing something new that I've never done before.

I actually find painting really relaxing, I've painted pottery a few times before and find it relaxing as well. So I knew I'd love this.

I really love cultivating new habits and trying new things. God's taught me a lot about myself in this last year. To not be afraid to try new things, to not be afraid to put my trust in him. I know we're talking about painting here but I think it's all apart of a bigger picture.

Trusting God in the little things. Means he'll trust you with the bigger things.

Have you tried anything new lately? Any new hobbies?

My Newest Obsession; Instagram Albums.

makeyourownInstagramalbums.jpg

Instagram is by far my favorite social media outlet right now! You know me pictures are my deal, I love them, I have them all over my house and I love making memory books from our yearly photos.

I've been really trying to challenge myself to get photos off my camera and make sure I print out my Instagram photos each month. I don't print all of them, I just pick a few favorites and print those. We R Memory Keepers has the cutest little instagram albums that you can put all of your photos into, they also have coordinating journal cards for easy scrapbooking.

I print all of my photos at home, using my HP Photosmart 7525 printer using regular photo paper. If you have a great printer choosing to print them at home is a lot more cost effective because you can size them smaller and fit more than one photo per page. After printing them I trim some of them down to the size I need them to be.

Using the journal cards and some of the additional items in their albums made easy packs I get to work making these fun little albums. It really is just so easy to slip them into the sleeves and you have a really pretty and cute album.

Easy Canvas Art using Chipboard Letters & Confetti Dots

Tonight I want to share with you this easy artwork I made for Ava's big girl room makeover using some old canvases I had. I had these four canvases they were painted a different color and I thought it would be great if I could re purpose them and use them in her room. I used some primer and then painted them the same shade of pink we used on her walls.

I used some gold, silver and pink confetti dots from House of Smith's Designs and just randomly placed them on the canvas to mimic confetti!

Using some gold chipboard letters from WeR Memory Keepers I wanted to put some meaningful words on these as well. On one I choose to do her first and middle name. On the other I put the words from a song by Natalie Grant called 'Burn Bright.' In the song there's a line that says;

"You were made to shine, You were made for life."

I always want Ava to know how much she shines brightly for Christ, and how she's called to a greater purpose. This is a great reminder to see every time I walk into her room.

I really love the way all four of them look together!  I added the tassel garland on top that I made for her third birthday, I think it's kicks the girly glam look we're going for up a notch!

Use code: WORLEYHOUSE at checkout at shopwer.com for 20% off your orders. These chipboard stickers can be used for so many fun projects! Use the code and get the discount on anything, however! Awesome deal!

Thanks for letting me share a little bit of Ava's room with you tonight. I'm hoping to show you the rest soon, I've just got a few more details to finish!
